A1 Labs, a subsidiary of JAN3 ("we," "us," or "our"), operates the A1 Echos voice transcription application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. A1 Echos is designed to run entirely locally on your device, with no back-end servers involved. Large language models (LLMs) and automatic speech recognition (ASR) models (such as Whisper) are downloaded to your device, and all voice transcription processing occurs on-device without transmitting any data to us or to external servers.
The App requires access to your device's microphone to enable voice-based features and provide the intended functionality. Microphone access is requested only with your explicit permission and used solely for processing audio locally on your device. We do not transmit or store your voice data externally. You can grant or revoke microphone access at any time through your device settings.
Except for limited cases described below (such as when you contact support or voluntarily send a crash report), A1 Echos does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or usage information. The App has no back-end server, and all audio and transcripts remain on your device.

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are located outside the United States, any information from customer service or crash reports may be processed in the U.S. or other countries. We ensure appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services, including for downloads of large language models (LLMs). These downloads occur directly from third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, including the publishers of the models. We cannot guarantee the privacy of the models themselves or how the publishers of those models may use any data. Review their privacy policies before interacting or downloading.
From time to time, A1 Labs may revise this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in law or our data-handling practices. Changes to this Privacy Policy will be announced by posting on our platforms and/or by direct communication from us to you. You should regularly review the Privacy Policy and note any revisions. If you do not agree with the revised content, you must stop using the App. Your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
A1 Echos uses locally run automatic speech recognition (ASR) and, where applicable, large language models (LLMs) that are downloaded to your device. These models are provided "as is" and may contain inaccuracies, errors, or omissions in their output.
We make no warranties or guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any transcription or text generated by these models.
Use of the App and its AI features is entirely at your own discretion and risk. The App should not be relied upon for mission-critical, safety-critical, medical, or legal purposes.
A1 Lab and its affiliates shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or claims arising from your use of or reliance on the App's transcriptions or generated content.
Certain models may be subject to third-party license terms published by their developers (for example, on Hugging Face or GitHub). You should review those terms before using the models. Links to applicable model licenses and terms may be provided within the App or on our website.
